The Transformation - Week 13

It's the  August Bank Holiday but that doesn't stop the progress on the house.  The builder spent the morning finishing off the tiling in the bathroom and the shower room and grouting the whole lot.

Bathroom sink - cleaning products in situ for the 'clean up' once the grouting is polished off etc.

Shower room looking from the shower towards the sink etc
The range cooker has been unwrapped ready for the gas engineer to connect on Tuesday.

French doors and frame ready to be fitted on wednesday.  Top coat of gloss on the glazing bars and external facing part of the frame - we ran out of time to get it all painted as the gloss takes 16 hours to dry and the builders are all back tomorrow which means dust and that doesn't mix well with gloss white paint!
The main part of the dining room wall has been wire brushed and 'hoovered' ready for a coat of sealant!
This is what 40 years of grime does to a bowl of  clean water..............the clean up has commenced in our bedroom as the first room we intend to completely paint before we move in.
There is a hint of cleanliness about the woodwork in our bedroom now but it will need another scrubbing before it can be painted.  Rather than continue boiling kettles to get hot water - which at least we can do now - it can wait until later this week when the gas boiler will be commissioned and we can have hot water on tap.
 Before and after.................
A clear archway!  Partially emptied by the builders and completed by us over the weekend ready - hopefully - for the man to come and take the rubble in the courtyard away.
The general rubbish all in a corner awaiting collection on Tuesday morning.

There gas engineer was able to connect and run the heating on Tuesday but had to override the electricians work to do that so we need electricians and plumbers back on site to move things on.  There has been no activity for the remainder of the week as it appears the schools have been - once again - the priority for those trades.

We have been busy vacuuming floors and treating the fllor timbers with wood preservative so there is a very strong odour of wood preservative in the house at the minute.

All hands to the deck next week again!
