The Transformation - Week 7

This week we saw the start of work on the outside of the house as well as continuing work on the inside.

The rear chimney has been taken down to the ridge line and capped as we don't intend to use any of the chimneys on that side of the house.
Bricks removed from the chimney which will be re-cycled somewhere else on site or end up as hardcore.

The first coat of latex screed over the dining room floor underfloor heating pipes etc.
Lining the kitchen wall with the 'bump' in the middle proved interesting for the carpenter.
Skirting boards going back into the bedrooms
New ledges and beading around the frae of the bedroom windows completed - difficult to see the detail but it looks good.

Kitchen wall frame and insulation board fitted.
Continuing on with the lining of the external wall in the dining room.
Removal of some of the panelling under the large shop front window as preparation for fitting of the BIG window early next week.
Rotten timber below the wood panelling in the dining room - probably a construction beam to fix the panelling to but rotten timber always a cause for concern - builders don't think so!
 Bathroom cabinets in situ.
 Shower room cabinets in situ

The wall at the end of the archway was the source of bricks to re-build the entrance door to Lloyds Bank and it has now been re-built with modern brick of a similar tint.  we will need to either get the wall sand blasted or paint it with yoghurt (builders recommended it) to blend the two sets of bricks together.
The ceiling in the kitchen/dining room has been re-plastered where the wall was taken down in Week 1.
Despite the difficult access under the scaffolding the old back door has been filled in and looks much better.
Plaster board on the kitchen wall and wiring routed through for fixtures and fittings.
Bathroom toilet in situ - it's not connected yet!
Shower room sink fitted and wiring for shaver socket installed

The Red Arrows flying past was a distraction for the builders who had a great view from the scaffolding.
 Old bank door being re-built
 Mission Control complexity grows daily
Just as the wall has been re-built outside the plumbers need a hole cut through it for the flue to the gas boiler!
 Concealed cistern in the bathroom
Shower room coming along nicely!
