The Transformation - Week 5

This week saw the start of deliverys of all sorts of materials, including some of the radiators, now stacked in one of the bedrooms ready for installation.  There is also a lot of the material for the underfloor heating downstairs and more insultaion board to go under the heating elements.

And it didn't take long for that insulation board to be laid on the ground floor which means the floor levels are starting to come back up.
Looking from the snug into the hallway.
The snug looking to the gap left by removal of the rather large 1930s fridge.  We are hoping that a cupboard can be re-constructed in that gap to match the one on the other side of the fireplace.
Looking from the kitchen/dining room along the hall.
Looking from the dining room into the kitchen.
We were remarking at how much wiring and pipes are now being installed under the floorboards upstairs in comparison to the few wires there when we first went into the house.

We have started to remove some of the rubbish, several more runs to household re-cycling centres I suspect and certainly both cars will need valeted on completion of this project.

We have our first radiator upstairs!  Apparently the plumber was looking for something to do this week when he was waiting for other work to be completed and put this up!
Underfloor heating pipes laid on the insulation board.  There are also gas pipes and trunking for electricity to the kitchen island hidden in the middle of all of this.
It seems like miles of piping snaking around the whole of the ground floor.
and even in the hallyway but not in Mission Control in to the right here - that's where all the pipes are connected to the manifolds.
Saturday saw the continuing re-build of the door that is being closed up in the courtyard.  Most of these stones had to be cut in half with a still saw so there is dust everywhere.
We have our own vine and it appears to be growing quite happily amongst all of the building work - there is even the sign of a few bunches of grapes - whether they will come to anything remains to be seen but it was certainly hot enough this weekend.
First wash on the bathroom and second coat on the ceiling and top of the walls as the bottom half of most of it will be tiled.
Shower room also painted and ready for tiling.
The view from the dressing room onto the High Street through an open sash window - if a little difficult to open at least we could get some air in as it was very hot working inside this weekend.

Next week will apparently see the arrival of the scaffolding at the back of the house and the screed for the underfloor heating is being laid on Wednesday.
