This is the story of our 'project' now our lovely home. We hope you enjoy sharing our journey.
The Transformation - Week 1
The beginning of the Transformation - stripping wallpaper of course! Some of it was really easy and indeed Susan managed to get two strips off in one go in the third bedroom - then of course there was the rest which wasn't quite so easy to get off but it certainly took us back to the 1970's and probably before that with some of the patterns.
This is the result of pulling the top layer of wallpaper of the large front bedroom.
This is the pattern we found underneath the wallpaper and it looks very old and it's very thin
The paper in bedroom 3 came off very easily - looks better already and the walls are in reasonable condition - thankfully.
Another view of bedroom 3, less the wallpaper.
The pile of wallpaper from bedrooms 1,2 and 3.
Stripping that ~60's patterned wallpaper off the wall in the Old Shop revealed wood panelling with the marks of the shelves and probably the counter when it was in situ. We are going to try and keep this although one or two of the boards are probably rotten at the doorway.
Polystyerene tiles removed from the ceiling in what will be the kitchen.
This is the wallpaper that was under the woodchip in what will be the kitchen.
A break from the Hero Ride to examine the additional 20 centimetres that we discovered behind a stud partition wall in the what will be the kitchcen.
The wall is down! It wasn't load bearing after all so no RSH (BUT as ever win some lose some as the Bresummer Beam in the archway needs replacing). It's a lovely bright room now.
An Ex-Wall 'saved' in the courtyard as we might be able to use some of it as hard-core for the solid floors and/or recover some of the bricks to fill in doorways.
