The Transformation - Week 9

This week saw the start of some unsettled weather which will be interesting as there is still work to be done on the roof.

So despite thinking that between the builders and our efforts the chimneys were clear for the sweep to give them a final brush through this is the additional nesting material he removed!!

The bathroom is getting close to completion with the carpenter back on site.

Don't you just love trades - the electricians had to chase the new plasterboard to install wiring for shaver points and lighting in the bathroom mirrors.  SO, despite thinking we were ahead of them with sealing new plaster more to do - hey ho!
Having said that as he had to repair bathroom and shower room the plasterer also started to repair the various areas that were either chased out of the wall for wiring  - this is at the front door at the base of the stairs looking out into the archway - or as per the next one..................
A large chunk of plaster that had fallen out of the wall on the wall of the stairwell.
We now have the basis of the Utility Room - the old pantry we think now with a concrete floor.

These are the clay tles that came off the floor of the Utility Room which we would have liked to re-lay but not particularly practical so we will probably use them for the floor of the cart shed in due course.
The tower scaffold in place for removal of the guttering at the back of the house - asbestos again - and the brackets in place for the new one.

More plaster patching above the shower in the en-suite shower room ready for tiling and of course painting!
This weekend we retrieved the power washer from our friends loft and started off well but then discovered that whatever type of paint is on the wall won't wash off easily so next weekend will require a wire brush of some sort to see if that will do the job.
The other side of the archway where it was re-bilt is similar but not quite as bad given the new brick work.
Tidy, swept floors and all the old wood and rubbish removed from the kitchen makes a difference don't you think!
The view of the BIG window without the rubbish in front of it and the fire beside the fireplace to watch all the passers by peering in to see the progress!

You will probably have realised from the limited photos that there hasn't been as much activity on site this week and where there has been it has largely been hidden - i.e. electricians.  However, it's definitely beginning to look more like a house and waiting to be turned into our new home!
