The Transformation - Week 6

This week dawned with the delivery of yet more materials but this time it is the scaffolding

Prior to the scaffolding going up on the rear elevation of the house it adds to the growing chaos that is the courtyard!
Those of you who are familiar with the world of construction will probably know why the scaffolding has a trademark colour on it which in this case is a girlie pink!  It's so that the company knows which scaffolding belongs to it on sites where multiple companies are providing scaffolding.
The underfloor heating on the floor of the old shop has been laid in preparation for the screed going in - it's a smaller bore pipe on this section as there is already a concrete floor in place and this will have a latex screed to bring it to an equivalent height to the other floors.
 we have a bath!
 and a shower tray..............
 Plastering continues a-pace this week

Plaster patching on the areas where electricians have chased wires into the wall.

A couple of days later the scaffolding is fully in position ready for the brickie to take the rear chimney down and cap it.
Screed laid on the floors which will take a coupld of days to dry out so upstairs acccess only for the minute.  A view from the stairs into the snug.
A view from the stairs along the hall and into the kitchen/dining room.
New window-sill and edging for the windows in the bedrooms as the finishing starts.
First wash-coat of white paint on our bedroom - it was hot work this week even in the early evenings as the sun is on the back of the house all afternoon.
 Preparation for the loft hatch.
The kit in the archway goes up and down with each passing day but still no possibility of a vehicle passing through.
The Snug floor lovely and smooth and dry!
The kitchen floor also smooth and dry - it's a real skill doing something like this and they make it look so easy - although the young lad who took the mound of screed into the house in a wheelbarrow may not agree!
The kitchen floor was installed just in time to have the contents of the bathroom and shower room delivered ready for fitting next week.

The new gutters have also been delivered ready for installation when the front scaffolding goes up - again hopefully next week if the pavement licence has come through.  That will be a great relief as the weeds are out of reach of the weedkiller sprayer at the minute.
The new boiler awaits installation - always assuming Wales and West can get on with installing the Gas supply - usual issues with monopoly suppliers!
Susan's aerobic exercise on Saturday - two loads of tiles for the bathroom and the shower room ready for tiling  - soon!
Aqua panel board in place ready for tiling around the shower.
 Dressing Room radiator in place
Guest bedroom radiator also in place

The final delivery this week was the hardwood frame for the BIG window in the Old Shop.  The glass should arrive next week so the house will really begin to look as if it is being properly transformed when that is installed.

All on course for completion of the builders work in Week 10 but there will still be lots to do.  However, it is certainly taking shape and thanks to all of you who are taking an interest and following our progress.  There are lots of others of course who just pop in as they are passing by so it is certainly a project with a following!
